Obligation

It wasn’t too long ago. I had just got home from a trip the night before, and I had signed up for an event for that evening. The trip was powerful and emotion-releasing, but to put it bluntly, I was tired.

As I organized my day around the evening’s event, I could just feel that I wasn’t up for it. And, then, it hit me.

You know you don’t have to go.

As I started to really think about this, I realized I was going to go out of obligation. You see, I have always defined myself by my word being my commitment, and this was going to no different.

That is, until I made a different move.

I’m always helping people notice the energy they’re choosing, and I decided to take a dose of my own medicine. After all, I did not want to be in the energy of resentment, obligation and not taking care of myself. That definitely would not make for a fun evening.

So, it was in that moment that I made a choice. No more acting from obligation just because I define myself in a certain way. I get to choose at all times, and that included now.

So, instead, I went to dance class. 🙂
